Are you passionate about the outdoors and eager to make a positive impact on youth? Friends of the Valley, the volunteer support team for Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley, is looking for dedicated volunteers to help maintain and enhance this unique camp facility. Lost Valley is more than a camp; it’s a place where Scouts build character, learn leadership, and embrace adventure, and we need your help to keep it running smoothly!
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities:
As a Friends of the Valley volunteer, you may be involved in:
- Trail Maintenance: Clearing, repairing, and maintaining trails for hikers, Scouts, and staff.
- Facility Upkeep: Painting, minor repairs, and overall beautification of the campgrounds.
- Environmental Stewardship: Assisting with sustainable practices, conservation projects, and habitat restoration.
- Camp Events Support: Helping with seasonal events, assisting in activities, and welcoming campers.
- Special Projects: Contributing to projects based on your skills and interests, from carpentry to landscaping.
Requirements:
- Age: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old (families welcome if minors are supervised).
- Availability: Flexible hours, but preference is given to those who can commit to regular volunteering.
- Skills: We welcome volunteers with a range of skills, particularly in outdoor work, maintenance, or working with youth.
- Attitude: A positive attitude and passion for the outdoors and Scouting values are essential!
