Scouting America has launched the Liberty in Action: 250th Anniversary Challenge, a special nationwide program encouraging Scouts to celebrate the principles of citizenship, service, and patriotism that shape the United States.
Beginning March 2, Scouts across the country can earn the Liberty in Action 250th Challenge patch by completing activities that connect them to their communities and deepen their understanding of civic responsibility. The challenge highlights the ideals of liberty, leadership, and service while helping Scouts actively explore what it means to be responsible citizens.
To earn the Liberty in Action patch, Scouts complete a series of age-appropriate activities that may include participating in community service projects, learning about local or national government, exploring historical sites connected to American liberty, and demonstrating strong citizenship in their units, schools, or neighborhoods.
Councils and units are also encouraged to host special activities and events throughout the year that support Scouts working toward this recognition.
The Liberty in Action 250th Anniversary Challenge is part of the broader celebration leading up to America’s 250th anniversary, reinforcing Scouting’s mission of preparing young people for lives of leadership, civic engagement, and service.
