For thousands of families, joining Scouting begins with a simple click. They visit BeAScout, find a local unit, and ask for more information. What happens next depends on us.

According to the latest national membership report, more than 2,680 leads remain in the online registration system. Although that number is down 48% from last week, thousands of families are still waiting for a response. Meanwhile, more than 600 youth have already completed an application and paid to join. They are simply waiting for a unit to approve their membership.

Every lead represents a family interested in Scouting. Likewise, every pending application represents a young person ready to begin the program.

A quick response can make a lasting difference. Families who hear back promptly are more likely to visit a meeting, complete the process, and become active members. On the other hand, long delays can cause families to look elsewhere.

Therefore, now is a good time to review your unit’s leads and pending applications. Reach out by phone or email. Better yet, invite families to your next meeting. A short conversation may be all it takes to welcome a new Scout.

Scouting grows one family at a time. Those families have already taken the first step. Now it’s our turn to take the next one.
