Summer camp gives Cub Scouts something simple and valuable: time outdoors, time with family, and time with friends.
This summer, Orange County Council is offering two great options for Cub Scouts: Twilight Camp at Oso Lake and Gold Rush Cub Scout Resident Camp.
Twilight Camp is a local evening camp at Oso Lake Scout Camp. Scouts enjoy archery, crafts, games, and STEM activities. Because it runs in the evening, it fits easily into busy summer schedules. It is a great option for families who want the camp experience without staying overnight.
Gold Rush Cub Scout Resident Camp takes place at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center. This year’s theme brings the California Gold Rush to life with mining towns, competitions, campfires, and outdoor adventures. Families attend together, which makes the experience both exciting and comfortable for younger Scouts.
Both camps are designed to be fun and approachable. Scouts build confidence, make friends, and try new things. At the same time, parents and leaders get to enjoy the experience alongside them.
These camps also serve as a helpful bridge to Scouts BSA. As Cub Scouts grow older, many will attend weeklong summer camps on their own. Cub camp helps them become comfortable with camp life in a familiar and supportive setting.
For pack leaders, these camps are an easy way to create momentum. For parents, they are a chance to give children a memorable summer experience.
Most importantly, they are a lot of fun.
