This summer marks the launch of a new type of Cub Scout program for Orange County Council: Twilight Camp at Oso Lake.
Held at Oso Lake Scout Camp, the camp introduces an evening-based format designed specifically for families looking for a more flexible summer option. Rather than a full overnight or daytime schedule, Twilight Camp runs from Monday, June 29 through Thursday, July 2, 2026, with activities beginning in the evening.
It is the first camp of its kind offered locally by the council.
This year’s theme, America 250 Birthday Bash, ties camp activities to the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary celebration. Scouts will rotate through a variety of activities, including archery, STEM projects, games, crafts, and team-based challenges.
The evening structure allows Cub Scouts to experience many traditional camp elements while still returning home each night. That format makes the camp approachable for younger Scouts and families who may be trying camp for the first time.
The program is open to all Cub Scout ranks and includes both recreational activities and advancement opportunities.
For many families, Twilight Camp may serve as a first introduction to larger camp experiences later in a Scout’s journey. For the council, it represents a new approach to summer programming designed around flexibility and accessibility.
