This summer, Orange County Council is introducing something entirely new for Cub Scouts: the first-ever This summer, Orange County Council is introducing something new for Cub Scouts: the first-ever Twilight Camp at Oso Lake Scout Camp.
Unlike a traditional overnight camp, Twilight Camp runs during the evening. The program takes place from Monday, June 29 through Thursday, July 2, 2026. This schedule gives families more flexibility while still offering the fun and structure of camp.
This year’s theme is America 250 Birthday Bash. Throughout the week, Scouts will take part in:
- Archery
- STEM activities
- Crafts
- Team games
- Hands-on projects and challenges
Because Scouts return home each night, the camp works well for younger Cub Scouts and first-time camping families. In addition, the shorter format helps families fit camp into busy summer schedules.
Twilight Camp also gives Cub Scouts an introduction to outdoor programs before they move into longer overnight camps later in Scouts BSA. As a result, Scouts can build confidence while becoming more comfortable with camp activities and routines.
At the same time, the program keeps the focus where it belongs: having fun outdoors with friends during the summer.
The launch of Twilight Camp represents the first program of its kind offered locally by the council. Leaders designed the format to make camp more approachable and easier for families to attend.
