Orange County Council is launching a new style of Cub Scout overnight experience this summer with Gold Rush Cub Scout Resident Camp at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center.
Built around a fully themed Gold Rush setting, the program combines traditional Cub Scout camping with immersive activities designed specifically for younger Scouts and their families. It is the first resident camp experience of its kind hosted by the council in this format.
Throughout the camp, Scouts and families become part of themed “mining towns” and take part in competitions, campfires, games, crafts, and outdoor activities. The program blends structured camp programming with a lighter, more family-centered atmosphere.

Because families attend together, the camp creates a gradual introduction to overnight camping for younger Scouts. It also helps prepare Cub Scouts for future long-term camp experiences in Scouts BSA.
