If you’ve been around Scouting lately, you’ve probably felt it—things are a little tighter this year.
Costs are up. Families are being more careful with how they spend. At the same time, expectations for the program haven’t changed. Camps still need to run. Training still needs to happen. We’re still trying to make Scouting accessible to more youth, including offering complimentary membership to new families.
That gap has to be made up somewhere.
That’s where Scouting Clays comes in.
It’s a day on the course, yes. But more than that, it’s one of the ways the council helps fund the things that don’t always get seen—camp operations, program support, and the incentives that help bring new families into Scouting.
For units, it can also be something simple: a way to get your adult leaders together outside of meetings and say thank you. Sponsor a team. Bring a few volunteers out. Spend a day together doing something different.
At the same time, it directly supports the program those same volunteers are working so hard to deliver.
We are a little behind where we need to be this year. Events like this help close that gap.
If you’ve been looking for a way to support Scouting—and recognize your team at the same time—this is a good place to start.
