On February 28, 2026, the University of Scouting will welcome an exceptional teaching team to lead the BSA Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST) course. This unique duo—Bill Whittenberg, a seasoned grandfather with deep experience in both leadership and Scouting, and his enthusiastic grandson, Noah Hawe—brings a powerful blend of wisdom and youthful energy to the program.

Their intergenerational partnership offers participants a rare learning experience. Bill’s steady guidance, shaped by years of mentoring and service, pairs seamlessly with Noah’s fresh insights and relatable perspective as a young leader. Together, they create an engaging and dynamic environment where Scouts and adult leaders alike can explore core leadership principles, develop confidence, and strengthen their understanding of the Scouting program.

The course will also highlight how ILST prepares Scouts and Scouters for successful unit service while setting youth on a path toward advanced leadership opportunities such as National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT). This council-wide ILST session promises to inspire, educate, and empower participants as they grow into stronger leaders within their troops and beyond.

Let Bill and Noah show you how great leadership begins—with connection, commitment, and the willingness to learn alongside one another.
