Scouting America, Orange County Council’s Outdoor Adventures properties provide a range of camping experiences for Scouts, youth groups, churches, and other youth-serving organizations. Whether booking a weekend campout at Oso Lake or a retreat at the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center, the reservation process ensures a smooth and organized experience.
The first step in making a reservation is determining the best location and program for the group’s needs. Oso Lake Scout Camp is well-suited for Cub Scout campouts and fishing programs, while the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center serves as a versatile site for day trips, overnight retreats, and corporate or school group programs. Once a location and preferred dates are selected, a reservation request can be submitted by contacting the Outdoor Adventures team directly. Unlike individual event registrations, which are handled through the Blackpug system, general property reservations must go through the council’s Outdoor Adventures office.
All reservations, with the exception of Outdoor Science School bookings, require a 50% deposit due within one week of receiving the invoice. A signed contract must also be submitted at that time. Final participant counts, including any guaranteed minimums, must be provided two weeks before arrival, along with the final payment.
For large group bookings or custom programming, a Sales & Reservations Specialist may assist in coordinating activities, meal plans, and logistics. Leaders booking a reservation should ensure they have received all necessary confirmation materials, including check-in procedures, packing lists, and required waivers.
Final payments must be submitted before arrival unless otherwise arranged. Upon arrival, group leaders will check in at the designated location, where staff will provide site assignments and any additional instructions. To ensure a smooth experience, groups are encouraged to book early, communicate any changes with the Outdoor Adventures team, and review all camp policies ahead of time.
