Featuring University of Scouting Instructors: Shane Adams & Jason Grewal

As part of the 2026 University of Scouting on Saturday, February 28, 2026, we’re excited to highlight a course designed especially for new and transitioning troop leaders. “Now You’re a Scoutmaster or Asst. Scoutmaster — What’s Next?” will be led by two dynamic instructors, Shane Adams and Jason Grewal, whose combined insight and enthusiasm promise a highly engaging and practical learning experience.

Many leaders complete their required training and still find themselves asking: What do I actually do now? This session answers that question with clarity and confidence. Participants will explore how to take an active role in shaping their troop’s culture, strengthening program delivery, and supporting overall unit objectives. The course encourages leaders not to stand back and wait to be invited into the action—but to dive in, contribute, and enjoy being part of the fun.

Shane and Jason bring a balanced blend of experience, approachability, and practical know‑how. Shane’s calm, clear teaching style helps leaders understand the structure and expectations of the Scoutmaster and ASM roles, while Jason’s thoughtful, analytical approach breaks down concepts into simple, actionable steps. Together, they help leaders recognize how vital their presence is in creating strong, youth‑led troops.

Together, Shane and Jason have staffed trainings inside and outside the council, always with the same approach: they don’t claim to be experts, just two Scouters who enjoy sharing what they’ve learned, what they’re still figuring out, and the moments that keep them inspired. They’re honored to be part of the journey and look forward to learning alongside you at University of Scouting.

Attendees can expect to walk away with:

  • A clear roadmap for stepping confidently into their role
  • Practical tools for supporting a youth‑led program
  • Strategies for communication, teamwork, and troop engagement
  • Renewed excitement for being an active part of their unit

Whether you’re brand‑new to the job or shifting from Cub Scouts to Scouts BSA, this course will empower you to lead with purpose, participate fully, and support Scouts as they grow and thrive.

Join us at Santiago Canyon College for a day of learning, connection, and inspiration. Lunch is included, and the event runs from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with check‑in starting at 7:15 AM.
